I never set out to become a copywriter or messaging strategist.
If you’d told the 2017 version of me — fresh out of engineering college, buried under data science courses and chasing an IT job I didn’t even want — that someday I’d be chasing persuasive copy and purpose-messaging for creative entrepreneurs around the world, I would’ve laughed.
Yet, that’s exactly the path life took. Or was handed to, that’s better!
Why Conversion Copywriting & Messaging?
In 2017, I was exactly where many grads find themselves in — overwhelmed, unclear, trapped by what they want to do with their life, fresh out of college. Not wondering what their “messaging” and “positioning” will be another copywriter among the millions selling themselves as the same thing…
I pursued trends like data science, analytics, and big data, hoping prestige and stability would bring fulfillment – because I hated the concept of writing code after going through four years of it.
I knew I loved talking, communicating, and conveying something. That led me to data science and analytics, only to find the first Catch-22 of my life. Let’s just blame not seeing anything here in life and high standards.
Instead, I found burnout, frustration, and invisibility.
